A Matter Of Time?

By crashstories

During a brilliant moment of enlightenment a bunch of scientists decided to change the conditions of the universe. I don’t know whether they were inspired by a higher power, abducted by aliens or just simply nuts, it didn’t appear in their new revolutionary thesis ;)

We are all brought up with the idea of a three dimensional universe and are all quite used to it as well as comfortable. It makes sense, the three dimensions of the room. You can adapt and relate to it. Nothing strange, complicated or improbable, just a pretty good way of making sense of your life and have somewhat control over it :D

But those guys who had nothing better to do, draw the existentialism even further and claimed we live in a ten dimensional universe, where the fourth dimension is time. I can buy that, the time dimension. Even though it makes everything a bit tricky it kind of makes sense. I mean who can prove there is such a thing as time, as we count it? In one way it’s just another way of making sense to life, death and universe and giving us all a microscopic chance of at least pretend we have control over our lives…

As far as I know the watch is a human invention and the measurement of this fourth dimension too. What is a second, a minute, a year really, when you think about it? What does it really tell us about all mysteries of life, seriously :o Was Big Bang the very first alarm clock? Or did God sit there with a watch in his hand, planning everything?

Either way I try desperately to ignore the fourth dimension every morning my bloody alarm goes off. What if you claimed as a reason for being late that time is a silly invention a group of nutty professors made up ‘cause they had nothing else to do? And why is time so very much there every morning there’s no alarm going off and you wake up ridiculously early just because you can sleep for as long as you like :P

I just ask myself: What on earth… sorry… what in universe are the other six dimensions? When speaking in terms of logic? And just recently I read something about even more dimensions… How can you invent stuff you can’t even define or name???
